A Place Built on Scratch & Stubbornness.
We didn't open to be another coffee shop. We opened because this town deserved something real.
The Copper Kettle Started with a Belief.
The Copper Kettle opened its doors in downtown Middletown three years ago with a simple belief: your neighborhood deserves better than a drive-through and a chain.
Priya Nair, our owner and head baker, has been making things from scratch since she was old enough to stand at a counter. Everything at The Copper Kettle is made in-house — every pastry, every bread, every sauce, every granola blend. We don't use frozen doughs, commercial syrups, or shortcuts.
It takes longer. It costs more. It tastes better.
Three Things We'll Never Compromise On
Everything From Scratch
No frozen doughs. No commercial syrups. No shortcuts. Every item on our menu is made in this kitchen, by this team, daily. We believe if you can't make it from scratch, you shouldn't put it on the menu.
Know Your Farmers
We source our coffee from two small farms we've maintained direct relationships with since we opened. Finca La Cascada in Guatemala. Kigoma Highlands in Tanzania. We know their names. We know their harvest seasons.
Earn the Third Place
People don't have many real third places anymore — somewhere between home and work that actually feels like theirs. We take that seriously. We host community events, support local artists, and make space for people to just exist here.
Direct Trade Isn't a Marketing Term for Us. It's Just How We Work.
Our coffee comes from two small farms we've had direct relationships with since we opened. We know the farmers. We know the harvest. We roast to order — which means what you're drinking was roasted within the week.
Most cafés buy from a distributor. We buy from people.

Meet Priya
Priya Nair
Owner & Head BakerPriya has been making things from scratch since she was old enough to stand at a counter. Before opening The Copper Kettle, she spent years in professional kitchens — learning technique, but more importantly, learning what food is supposed to feel like when it's done right.
She opened The Copper Kettle in 2022 because Middletown didn't have a place like it — somewhere scratch-made, community-rooted, genuinely independent. Three years later, she knows most of her regulars by name.
That last part? It's her favorite part of the job.
We're Proud to Be a Real Part of Middletown.
We host local artist showcases, book swaps, small gatherings, and the kind of events that remind you why having a neighborhood place matters.
We support local makers and feature rotating art on our walls. We show up for the community that showed up for us.
Pull up a chair. Stay a while. You're always welcome here.
